BigFix To Work With TCG To Advance Security Standards and Promote More Comprehensive Endpoint Security Solutions
Emeryville, Calif., February 15, 2005 - BigFix, a leading provider of security configuration management solutions, today announced that it has joined the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), an industry standards body whose specifications help vendors build products that let users protect critical data and information. As part of the collaboration, BigFix will work with TCG to provide the building blocks to secure critical data and information at the endpoint across a variety of platforms.
TCG is a not-for-profit organization formed to develop, define and promote open specifications for trusted computing and security technologies, including hardware building blocks and software interfaces, across multiple platforms, peripherals and devices. TCG's primary goal is to help users protect their information assets from compromise due to external software attack and physical theft.
BigFix's support of TCG extends the BigFix Assess, Remediate, Connect (ARC) program which provides the framework for a comprehensive set of solutions for managing and enforcing the secure configuration of mobile, remote and guest computers no matter where they reside or when they connect to the network.
"The Trusted Computing Group is pleased to welcome BigFix to its growing list of industry leading partners," said Brian Berger, chair, Trusted Computing Group's marketing work group. "With its experience in the security configuration management market, BigFix will add value to the development of future specifications and open standards in this area."
"The mission of TCG aligns directly with BigFix's goal to help enterprises ensure that non-compliant endpoints are automatically remediated, without end-user intervention, and smoothly and securely connected to the network," said Gregory Toto, vice president of product management at BigFix. "As part of TCG, we are eager to work closely with the organization to develop an open specification that addresses this growing requirement."
More than 95 companies across the globe are currently TCG members. Hardware and software specifications have been completed and are available on the organization's website. The TCG has active work groups for server, mobile devices, storage, peripherals and other implementation specifications. A number of vendors are offering TCG-compliant chip solutions, systems and applications.
