BIGFIX® JOINS THE NETWORK ADMISSION CONTROL (NAC) PROGRAM

BigFix To Integrate Its Client Compliance API Into Cisco Framework to Deliver New Endpoint Security Capabilities

Emeryville, Calif., February 17, 2005 - BigFix, a leading provider of security configuration management solutions, today announced that it has joined the Network Access Control (NAC) program, a Cisco-led industry effort that is designed to use the network infrastructure to enforce endpoint security policy compliance on devices looking for access to networks and prevent malicious attacks.

BigFix will integrate its automation-assisted identification and remediation capabilities with the Cisco Trust Agent to help enterprises ensure that endpoint computers are fully in compliance with corporate security policies and best-practice standards prior to accessing enterprise networks.

NAC also supports the Self Defending Network, Cisco’s strategy for integrated security systems that help identify, prevent and adapt to threats.

BigFix’s autonomous agent and Fixlet message technology will meet program specifications to work with the Cisco Trust Agent to comprehensively assess and remediate non-compliant endpoints according to corporate policy and allow these endpoints to connect to the enterprise network without end-user or IT intervention. By joining the NAC program, BigFix continues to expand on its industry-leading mobile and endpoint security solutions to help enterprises establish and enforce continuous security.

“We are excited to work with Cisco to integrate BigFix’s highly scalable, real-time configuration management platform with the Cisco technologies available in the NAC program,” stated Gregory Toto, vice president of product management at BigFix. “Through our integrated capabilities, we can provide a unified, enterprise-wide solution to help ensure that computers are brought into compliance with security policies before they are granted access to the network, and that they remain in compliance no matter when, how or where they connect.”

“BigFix recognizes the importance of delivering solutions that address a broad range of security and systems management challenges in the marketplace,” said Russell Rice, director of product marketing in the Security Technology Group at Cisco Systems. “Through its participation in the NAC program, BigFix will help customers assess the security of an endpoint and help assure that the endpoint is in compliance with best practices and policies prior to granting access to the enterprise network.”

BigFix’s support of the NAC program emphasizes the company’s commitment to providing an open architecture to the broader industry for the development and production of end-to-end security and systems management solutions.

In June 2004, BigFix announced the BigFix Open Architecture initiative, designed to help OEMs, systems integrators (SI) and VAR partners more easily integrate with the BigFix platform to create specialized value-added content solutions. The BigFix Open Architecture takes advantage of a series of product interfaces that open the BigFix Enterprise Suite (BES) to development partners and security vendors who are interested in building customized solutions for customers.
