New Bookings Double That of 2004, Solidifying Position as Preferred Security Configuration Management Solution for Commercial and Government Customers
Emeryville, Calif., February 1, 2006 —BigFix, a leading provider of enterprise security configuration management solutions, reports that strong business performance in the fourth quarter of 2005 has contributed to successful achievement of important financial and market traction goals for the entire year. Sparked by a strong fourth quarter that saw several 25,000-plus seat license wins, the company doubled its software bookings for the year. With significant new enterprise licenses in 2005, BigFix achieved a Company record--over 500 customers worldwide now use BigFix to manage more than 5,000,000 servers, PCs, and mobile laptops.
To prepare the way for continued growth in 2006 and beyond, the company moved to scale up its organization to support expanded sales and marketing presence in key markets. The company established BigFix EMEA, a wholly-owned subsidiary headquartered in the United Kingdom, to support and serve customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa. BigFix expanded its distribution in the Asia Pacific region, with the total number of resellers rising to more than 20. Expanded distribution has already resulted in notable success in the region, with new seats sold in Asia Pacific rising five-fold in 2005.
The company secured $8.4 million in new venture funding to support its expansion. BigFix also welcomed Rob Born, of Thomas Weisel Venture Partners, and Rhonda Hocker, CIO of BEA Systems, as new members of the BigFix Board of Directors. The board also elected BigFix president and CEO Dave Robbins as its chairman.
Customer Wins
New and existing customers drove bookings and revenue growth. Included in customers worldwide who placed orders for new, add-on or renewal licenses are British Sky Broadcasting (United Kingdom), Georgia-Pacific Corporation, La-Z-Boy, Inc., Norwich Union (United Kingdom), Novartis (Switzerland), Patientline UK (United Kingdom), Rolls Royce (United Kingdom), Schenker Logistics (Germany), Solectron, Staples, and Warner Music Group.
Product and Technology Advances
BigFix launched several new products in 2005, including BigFix Enterprise Suite versions 5.0 and 5.1 along with new solutions to combat spyware--the BigFix AntiPest and BigFix Client Manager for Spyware Tools offerings--and leverage the BigFix single-agent, single-infrastructure technology platform to lower the cost and improve service level quality of software and security configuration management. In addition, the company added support for IBM AIX, Apple Mac OS and SUSE Linux servers, PC desktops, and mobile laptops.
BigFix initiated moves to build bridges between BigFix solutions and third-party network access control offerings such as Cisco NAC, Infoblox, InfoExpress, Senforce, and StillSecure. Customers benefit from the ability to use BigFix to remediate deficiencies on networked clients that have been quarantined or need to be updated before logging onto an enterprise network.
The company announced support for important industry standards in 2005, including Cisco NAC, Common Vulnerability Exposures (CVE) compatibility certification, Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS), Open Vulnerability Assessment Language (OVAL), SANS Institute best practices, and US Common Criteria. Expanding standards support enhances customer value of the BigFix solutions by providing consolidated integration and expedited use of vulnerability intelligence information from multiple sources.
