SOLECTRON CHOOSES BIGFIX FOR ENTERPRISE-SCALE DISTRIBUTED ENDPOINT SECURITY CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT

Emeryville, Calif., April 10, 2006 — BigFix, a provider of enterprise security configuration management solutions, today announced that Solectron, a leading provider of electronics manufacturing and integrated supply chain services, has adopted BigFix technology to manage a range of security, configuration and systems functions throughout its distributed enterprise network.

With operations in more than 20 countries on five continents, and sales from continuing operations of $10.4 billion in fiscal 2005, Solectron provides a full set of electronics manufacturing and supply-chain management services to the world’s leading networking, telecommunications, computing, consumer, automotive, industrial and medical device firms.

Solectron has more than 50 facilities and more than 50,000 employees. In late 2005, Solectron determined that it needed a single agent, single point-of-management approach to optimizing security and configuration status of thousands of computers in its worldwide IT infrastructure, while simultaneously reducing IT management costs and complexity.

Solectron opted for a BigFix solution following a competitive evaluation and proof-of-concept process. Key strong points for BigFix in the evaluation included the software’s ability to provide IT administrators extensive visibility into every computer running on an enterprise network and the ability to rapidly identify, assess and make configuration changes on any BigFix-managed machine, anytime, anywhere. Furthermore, the software’s single agent, single management infrastructure architecture mapped to Solectron’s requirements for its next generation security configuration management solution to lower cost and reduce complexity for delivery of key IT services to endpoint systems throughout its global array of business, engineering and manufacturing locations.

“Leading companies like Solectron are discovering the benefits of consolidating on a single management platform that keeps servers, PC workstations and laptops safe and compliant while simplifying and improving IT management effectiveness,” said Dave Robbins, president and CEO of BigFix. “To get these results, IT organizations are turning away from multiple point solutions that require costly and often redundant infrastructure platforms and can add to IT staff workloads. By streamlining and strengthening Solectron’s IT supply chain, the company can make progress in aligning IT to achieve greater business agility, streamlined management processes, and improved transaction integrity.”
